To Blog or Not To Blog?

My husband keeps telling me that I should start my own blog. I protested saying that blogs are just public diaries and I don't need the world knowing how goofy I am!

However, I did open this account because I wanted to read and comment on others' blogs (my two daughters', for instance) and I thought it might be a good way to keep in touch with friends.

If anybody out there is reading this, answer me this: What made you start a blog and why do you keep doing it? What kinds of blogs do you enjoy reading? Is a blog just a great big public diary where you share your thoughts with the world?

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. Though I must admit, I'm still nervous about this.

Of course, you know I am so excited for your new blog.

My reasons for starting a blog were similar to yours, to keep in touch.

I am sure your network of family and friends will enjoy your blog.

What made me start blogging: Too many people asking me, "What do think about this or that?" and, "What did you do today?" So I just do this to answer everyone's questions, concerns, etc. one time.

Of course you already know that I like thought proviking "World changing" (jk) blogs. Mike Cope, Stephen's. I also like funny random stuff...I don't know, I guess I'm just nosie.

I have heard through the blogosphere that there is some implicit blogging ediquette (sp?). You don't air any dirty laundry and keep it as clean as you can.

Have fun with it...ask questions...it's a free country do what you want to do:-)

Josh-Thanks for the input! Keeping it clean shouldn't be hard for me. Airing dirty laundry, however...just kidding!

Stephen-Thanks for your comment and encouragement. Love you, Hon!

I'm glad you got a blog. I enjoy them because I have gotten back in contact with people I haven't talked to in years. I like reading random ones I think. I also like pictures.

Thanks, Neena! I like pictures too, but I'm going to have to learn how to do that!

    Elizabeth,

My husband and I go to Cinco Ranch (FKA Westside CoC in Katy, TX). I know that ya'll had been at Westside at some point though don't know if you were members or not. Ya'll were active at Impact Houston, right?

Anywho, my daughter went to college with Josh & Neena at LCU and I found their sites, which I have made "favorites" because they are either fun to read or thought provoking. "Thought provoking" is why I like to read blogs like Josh's and Mike Cope's. Some of my other favorite blogs are more fun & girlie "mom" reads. Reading my favorite blogs is now a morning routine. I have started one, too, though I don't think anyone besides my daughter and a couple of family members read it, that's ok. It helps to keep the mind stimulated.

Happy blogging from another newbie blogger :)

    Hi Elizabeth,

You don't know me...I'm actually Terri's daughter that went to school with Josh and Neena. I just thought I'd answer your "blogging question." I started my first blog to share pictures and stories of my son with all my family members and friends. When I started reading other people's blogs, I thought it sounded like fun--something I could use as a creative outlet. So here I am, blogging away :)

    Have fun with it!

What made me start? I think I'm just pretentious enough that I feel I must share my thoughts with everyone...just kidding. Actually I kind of like the anonymity of it in the sense that I can be a bit more free with some opinions that I might not feel as comfortable sharing in a Church setting (like my class).

    Welcome to the blogsphere. *wave*

hmm.... what made me start my blog.... in all honestly because all my friends were doing it. We would have some online quiz or something just about every week that we would all take and compare awnsers... it also became a good place to vent when there was no one to vent to at the moment... later on I found it was also pretty useful for making your own mini sermons... lol
